B10-FC is a recombinant neutralizing monoclonal antibody (or antibody fragment fused to an Fc domain) developed for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. Developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, the drug is designed to target the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) protein. By binding to the RBD, B10-FC prevents the virus from interacting with the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, thereby inhibiting viral entry into host cells. The 'FC' designation indicates the inclusion of an immunoglobulin Fc region, which is intended to improve the molecule's stability, solubility, and half-life within the circulatory system. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its safety and efficacy in both healthy volunteers and patients with confirmed COVID-19.
