Drug intelligence / Profile preview
B1E11K is a naturally acquired human monoclonal antibody that targets glutamate-rich repetitive elements (specifically EENV repeats) found across multiple stages of the *Plasmodium falciparum* life cycle. It was identified using a target-agnostic single B cell activation method from malaria-exposed individuals. B1E11K cross-reacts with several *P. falciparum* proteins containing these repeats, including Ring-infected Erythrocyte Surface Antigen (RESA), Pf11.1, LSA3, and RESA3. Structural analysis shows that B1E11K binds to its repeating epitope motif in a head-to-head conformation, engaging in affinity-matured homotypic interactions. This antibody is being researched for its potential to block malaria transmission and prevent infection.
