B20-4.1.1 is a recombinant monoclonal antibody that serves as a potent antagonist of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). Developed by Genentech, it is a high-affinity cross-species antibody that neutralizes both human and murine (mouse/rat) VEGF-A, making it a widely used surrogate for bevacizumab in preclinical rodent models. By binding to VEGF-A, B20-4.1.1 prevents the growth factor from interacting with its receptors (VEGFR1 and VEGFR2), thereby inhibiting angiogenesis and vascular permeability. In research contexts, it has been investigated for its effects on tumor growth, ocular neovascularization, and more recently, its potential to rescue angio-obliterative lesions in experimental pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
