Overview

B2206 is a long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, being developed by Bostal Pharma (formerly AustarPharma). It is designed as a once-monthly subcutaneous injection for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. Developed via the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway, B2206 utilizes Bostal's proprietary drug delivery platforms—such as Zpheres® microspheres, Geleepot® in-situ gel, or Kriztols® nanocrystals—to extend the dosing interval and improve patient adherence compared to existing weekly semaglutide formulations. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development following FDA approval of its Investigational New Drug (IND) application.
