Overview
B2227 LAI (also known as BST-2227) is a long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of the atypical antipsychotic aripiprazole, developed by Bostal Drug Delivery. It is designed for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder, providing a sustained-release profile intended for once-monthly (1M) administration. As a partial agonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, it aims to manage both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia while maintaining a favorable safety profile. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical development, leveraging Bostal's specialized drug delivery technology to improve patient adherence and therapeutic outcomes in chronic psychiatric conditions.
