Overview
B8728 is a long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of brexpiprazole, a serotonin-dopamine activity modulator, being developed by Bostal Drug Delivery. Utilizing proprietary nano-microcrystal technology (Kriztols), B8728 is designed for monthly or bimonthly administration to improve treatment adherence in patients with schizophrenia and agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease. The drug acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and as an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. It is being developed via the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway as a reformulation of the oral antipsychotic Rexulti and is currently in Phase I clinical trials approved by the US FDA.
