Overview

BA-101 is an investigational small molecule therapy developed for the treatment of glioblastoma, a highly aggressive primary brain cancer in adults. Its primary mechanism involves the inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production, aiming to balance NO levels in the brain. Dysregulated NO signaling is linked to glioblastoma progression and therapy resistance; inhibiting NO synthase reduces tumor proliferation and enhances responsiveness to standard treatments like temozolomide. BA-101 is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier, addressing a significant limitation in current glioblastoma therapies. Preclinical studies show BA-101 has both direct antitumor activity and synergistic effects when combined with temozolomide, resulting in reduced tumor size and improved survival in mouse models[1][3][5][9].
