Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BA-2017 is an experimental second-generation vaccine being developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies. Developed by BioArctic, the vaccine is designed to stimulate the body's own immune system to produce specific antibodies that target and neutralize toxic aggregated forms of alpha-synuclein, such as oligomers and protofibrils. By selectively targeting these pathological species while sparing physiological monomeric alpha-synuclein, BA-2017 aims to slow or halt the progression of neurodegeneration. The project leverages BioArctic's expertise in protein misfolding and immunotherapy, following the development of their earlier alpha-synuclein antibody programs.
