Overview

BA-R166 is a multifunctional, dual‑action RNA cancer immunotherapy developed by Bioarchitech that uses a self‑amplifying RNA (saRNA) platform to convert a patient’s own tumour into an in situ personalised vaccine. It is administered as a neo‑adjuvant, intratumoural injection shortly after diagnosis, where expression of viral‑derived genes drives rapid immunogenic cell death of cancer cells and the release of tumour antigens, thereby activating systemic anti‑tumour immunity prior to surgical resection.[1][2] Designed as an off‑the‑shelf, cost‑effective therapy with a mechanism completing within about one day, BA‑R166 aims to reduce metastatic spread in early‑stage cancers, with initial development focused on oesophageal and lung cancers and broader applicability to any solid tumour accessible to intratumoural injection.[2]
