Overview
Baby-Hib is a conjugate vaccine developed by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera (SPbSRIVS) for the prevention of invasive infections caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib), such as meningitis, pneumonia, and epiglottitis. It consists of the Hib capsular polysaccharide, polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP), chemically conjugated to a protein carrier to enhance its immunogenicity, particularly in infants and young children. By inducing a T-cell dependent immune response, the vaccine provides long-lasting protection and immunological memory against the Hib bacterium. It has received marketing authorization in Russia and has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and reactogenicity in adult populations.
