Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VesiCulture is a freeze-dried powder formulation containing live Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), specifically the Danish strain 1331. It is administered intravesically (directly into the bladder) for the treatment of primary or recurrent carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the urinary bladder and as adjuvant therapy after transurethral resection to prevent recurrence of high-grade and/or relapsing superficial papillary transitional cell carcinoma. The mechanism of action involves stimulating a local immune response within the bladder mucosa that targets residual cancer cells, reducing recurrence risk. The product is not intended for intravenous, subcutaneous, or intramuscular administration and must be prepared under aseptic conditions immediately prior to use[1][3][5].
