Overview
Bacillus coagulans BC01 is a specific, proprietary strain of the spore-forming probiotic bacterium *Bacillus coagulans*. [3] It is being developed by Thankcome Biological Science and Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. for its potential therapeutic effects. [3, 9] The strain is noted for its high stability against heat and acid, which allows it to survive passage through the stomach and reach the intestines. [3, 18] Clinical and preclinical studies are evaluating its efficacy in managing functional constipation. [1, 2, 6] The proposed mechanism involves modulating the gut microbiota, regulating gastrointestinal motility, increasing short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production, and reducing intestinal inflammation. [1, 2, 6] It is also used as a food-grade ingredient in various products. [4, 9]
