Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, also known by the brand name GanedenBC30, is a patented, spore-forming probiotic bacterial strain. [3, 4, 11] Its ability to form a protective spore allows it to survive harsh conditions, including stomach acid and manufacturing processes, enabling it to germinate and become active in the intestines. [6, 16] Developed by Ganeden and now part of Kerry Group's portfolio, this strain is used as a functional ingredient in a wide range of foods, beverages, and supplements. [1, 5] Clinical research has shown that Bacillus coagulans GBI-30 can help support digestive health, immune function, and protein absorption and utilization. [4, 6, 17] Studies have explored its effects on conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), exercise-induced muscle damage, and its potential to modulate the gut-brain axis, as seen in trials for major depressive disorder.
