Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bacillus coagulans TBC169 is a spore-forming probiotic strain developed and manufactured by Qingdao Eastsea Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in China. [7] It is formulated as live oral tablets and is considered a probiotic biologic or microecosystem drug. [7] The mechanism of action involves modulating the gut microbiota and intestinal function. [5] Specifically, it has been shown to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria such as Enterobacteriaceae and influence metabolic pathways, including D-glutamine and D-glutamate metabolism, and arginine biosynthesis. [5, 6] Clinical studies have demonstrated that Bacillus coagulans TBC169 can accelerate the recovery of intestinal function following gynecological surgeries by reducing the time to first flatus and decreasing postoperative complications. [2, 3] It is also under investigation for the treatment of moderate-to-severe acne.
