Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bacillus subtilis RBD oral vaccine is an experimental recombinant bacterial vector vaccine developed by DreamTec Limited for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine consists of *Bacillus subtilis* spores that have been genetically engineered to express and display the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein on their surface. Designed for oral administration, the spores are highly resilient, allowing them to pass through the stomach's acidic environment and reach the small intestine. There, they interact with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) to stimulate both mucosal (secretory IgA) and systemic (IgG) immune responses. This platform is intended to provide a cold-chain independent, needle-free vaccination option, particularly as a booster for individuals with waning immunity.
