Bacitracin disrupts bacterial cell-wall synthesis by binding undecaprenyl pyrophosphate; neomycin binds the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis; polymyxin B disrupts susceptible Gram-negative bacterial membranes through interaction with lipopolysaccharide; and lidocaine reversibly blocks voltage-gated sodium channels to provide local analgesia.
