Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bacitraycin Plus (bacitracin + pain relief ointment) is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical first-aid ointment developed by First Aid Research. It is formulated to prevent infection and relieve pain in minor skin injuries, such as cuts, scrapes, and burns. The product combines bacitracin zinc, a polypeptide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to undecaprenyl pyrophosphate, with a local anesthetic—either pramoxine hydrochloride or lidocaine—which acts as a voltage-gated sodium channel blocker to alleviate pain and itching. It is applied topically to the affected area.
