BACPTDP is a dipeptide prodrug of the camptothecin analog 7-butyl-10-aminocamptothecin (BACPT). It is designed to selectively target tumors by exploiting the acidic and hypoxic microenvironment characteristic of solid tumors. The drug exerts its antineoplastic effects through a dual mechanism of action: inhibition of nuclear topoisomerase I and the transcription factor HIF-1α. Preclinical studies have demonstrated broad-spectrum antitumor activity, with particular efficacy in pancreatic cancer models (e.g., Panc-1). It was developed by DEKK-TEC in collaboration with academic institutions like Duke University and the University of New Orleans.
