Overview

A combination product consisting of a bacterial immunostimulant and an influenza vaccine. This type of combination is designed to enhance immune protection against both primary influenza infection and secondary bacterial complications, which are common causes of morbidity and mortality during flu seasons. In preclinical studies, such as those using live attenuated influenza vaccines (LAIV) combined with recombinant polypeptides derived from group B Streptococcus surface proteins, the combination has demonstrated increased protective effects compared to influenza vaccination alone. The mechanism involves stimulating both antiviral and antibacterial immune responses, potentially reducing viral load as well as subsequent bacterial proliferation in the respiratory tract. This approach aims to provide broader prophylaxis by targeting both viral and common post-influenza bacterial pathogens[5].
