Overview

Broncho-munal is an oral immunostimulant composed of a standardized lyophilized bacterial lysate (OM-85) derived from eight common respiratory pathogens, including *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Haemophilus influenzae*, and *Moraxella catarrhalis*. Developed by OM Pharma and marketed by Sandoz in various regions, it is primarily indicated for the prevention of recurrent respiratory tract infections and as an adjuvant in the treatment of acute respiratory episodes. The drug functions by interacting with gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), specifically activating Toll-like receptors (TLR2 and TLR4) on dendritic cells. This activation triggers an immune cascade that enhances the activity of macrophages, increases the production of secretory IgA in the respiratory mucosa, and modulates the Th1/Th2 balance, thereby strengthening the body's natural defense mechanisms against viral and bacterial infections.
