Overview

Panfushu (OM-85) is a standardized lyophilized bacterial lysate used as an immunomodulator to prevent recurrent respiratory tract infections (RTIs) and reduce asthma exacerbations. It consists of lysates from eight common respiratory bacterial pathogens: *Haemophilus influenzae*, *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, *Klebsiella ozaenae*, *Staphylococcus aureus*, *Streptococcus pyogenes*, *Streptococcus viridans*, and *Moraxella catarrhalis*. The drug acts by stimulating the innate and adaptive immune systems, specifically through the activation of Toll-like receptors (TLR2 and TLR4) on dendritic cells, which leads to the maturation of these cells and the subsequent enhancement of T-cell responses and secretory IgA production in the respiratory mucosa. Developed by OM Pharma, Panfushu is administered orally and is particularly indicated for children and adults prone to frequent respiratory infections.
