Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BACTOVAC is a prophylactic toxoid-based vaccine candidate being developed by LiteVax B.V. in collaboration with Proxi Biotech ApS for the prevention of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). The vaccine targets the primary virulence factors of the bacteria, specifically toxins TcdA and TcdB, which are responsible for the clinical symptoms of CDI, such as diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis. It is formulated with LiteVax's proprietary CMS (Carbohydrate fatty acid monosulphate esters) adjuvant to enhance the immune response. The project has received support from EU TRANSVAC2 and Eurostars programs and is currently in the IND-enabling/toxicology phase, with studies being conducted in non-rodent species.
