Drug intelligence / Profile preview
bacTRL-Spike is an oral, room temperature-stable DNA vaccine candidate developed by Symvivo Corporation for the prevention of COVID-19. It utilizes the proprietary bacTRL™ platform, which employs engineered live *Bifidobacterium longum* as a delivery vector to transport a DNA plasmid encoding the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). This mechanism is intended to stimulate both mucosal and systemic immune responses. The oral delivery and stability at room temperature are designed to simplify distribution and administration compared to traditional injectable vaccines.
