Overview

Bactromix (Бактромикс) is a bacteriophage-based therapeutic product developed by the Russian pharmaceutical company Pik Pharma, specifically designed for the prevention and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and other inflammatory conditions of the respiratory tract. The product contains a complex cocktail of virulent bacteriophages that target a broad spectrum of common pathogenic bacteria, including *Staphylococcus aureus*, *Streptococcus pyogenes*, *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, *Proteus vulgaris*, *Proteus mirabilis*, *Escherichia coli*, and *Enterococcus faecalis*. Unlike broad-spectrum antibiotics, Bactromix acts selectively on pathogenic bacteria without disrupting the beneficial commensal microflora of the nasopharynx and oral cavity. It is marketed as a solution for topical application, such as rinsing or spraying, and is available in various volumes (25 mL, 50 mL, and 100 mL). It is primarily used to reduce bacterial load and prevent secondary bacterial complications during viral respiratory illnesses.
