Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Badu Shengji powder (also known as Badu Shengji San) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) topical preparation first documented in the Qing Dynasty medical text *Jiu Shang Mi Zhi*. It is currently manufactured as a proprietary Chinese medicine by Jianmin Group. The formulation consists of several active mineral and botanical ingredients, including red powder (Hongfen), light powder (Qingfen), yellow lead (Huangdan), calcined calamine, calcined gypsum, calcined keel, insect white wax, and borneol. Badu Shengji powder is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic refractory wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores (decubitus ulcers), venous leg ulcers, and postoperative non-healing wounds (e.g., anorectal surgery wounds). It acts by clearing heat, removing toxins, promoting debridement of necrotic tissue (Qufu), and accelerating granulation tissue formation and re-epithelialization (Shengji). Pharmacological studies suggest its wound-healing effects are mediated through the regulation of the Wnt/β-catenin and Keap1/Nrf2 signaling pathways, which promote angiogenesis, reduce inflammation, and enhance cell migration.
