Overview

Bael seed powder is a powdered preparation made from the seeds of the bael tree (Aegle marmelos), a plant native to India and Southeast Asia. Bael has been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for its purported health benefits. The seeds, along with other parts of the plant (fruit pulp, leaves, root), are believed to possess medicinal properties including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and digestive effects[1][4][5]. Bael is traditionally used to manage gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea and constipation due to its fiber content and tannins that may reduce swelling in the gut[3][5]. It is also claimed to support blood sugar regulation by promoting insulin secretion[4], enhance skin health through antioxidant activity[1][7], aid wound healing by promoting collagen synthesis[7], and support lactation by increasing prolactin production[1][6]. However, there is insufficient clinical evidence supporting these uses in humans; most data come from traditional use or animal studies. Excessive intake may cause constipation or stomach upset[2].
