Overview

BAH247 is an investigational dual-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Essen Biotech for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The therapy utilizes autologous T cells engineered to express CARs that simultaneously target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and CD19. CD19 is a well-characterized marker expressed across most stages of B-cell development, while BCMA is primarily expressed on late-stage B cells and long-lived plasma cells. By targeting both antigens, BAH247 is designed to achieve a more comprehensive depletion of the pathogenic B-lineage cell populations that drive the neuroinflammatory processes and autoimmune response in Multiple Sclerosis. This approach aims to reset the immune system and potentially provide durable disease modification. BAH247 is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials.
