Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bahen Zhiyang Ruangao (Scar Antipruritic Ointment) is a topical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation developed and manufactured by Sichuan Defeng Pharmaceutical. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertrophic (hyperplastic) scars resulting from burns, scalds, or surgical procedures. The formulation is a combination of active ingredients including Galla Chinensis (Chinese Nut-gall) extract, borneol, menthol, camphor, and methyl salicylate. The ointment works by inhibiting fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis, improving local microcirculation, and exerting anti-inflammatory effects. These actions collectively help to soften hardened scar tissue and provide symptomatic relief from the persistent itching (pruritus) and pain associated with active scar formation.
