Overview

Bai Jin Pill (also known as Baijin Wan) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed and manufactured by Jinsheng Da Ren Tang (Tianjin Pharmaceutical Da Ren Tang Group). It is composed of two primary active ingredients: Yujin (*Curcuma aromatica* or *Curcuma wenyujin*) and Alumen (alum). Bai Jin Pill is traditionally used to clear phlegm, open the sensory orifices, clear the heart, and calm the spirit. It is approved in China for the treatment of phlegm-qi obstruction, epilepsy, mania, sudden collapse, and spitting of saliva or froth. Modern pharmacological research indicates that curcumin, a key active component of Yujin, modulates receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase zeta (PTPRZ1) activity, thereby regulating neuroinflammation and providing neuroprotective effects in epilepsy and associated cognitive dysfunction.
