Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Baihu Decoction is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula originating from the *Shanghan Lun* (Treatise on Cold Damage). It is traditionally indicated for clearing 'Qi-level heat' and draining fire, typically characterized by high fever, intense thirst, profuse sweating, and a surging pulse. The formula is composed of four primary ingredients: Gypsum fibrosum (Shi Gao), Anemarrhena asphodeloides (Zhi Mu), Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gan Cao), and non-glutinous rice (Geng Mi). In modern clinical research, it is being investigated for its potential neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects in conditions such as acute cerebral infarction, particularly when presenting with 'fiery-heat syndrome.' It is often utilized as a component of the DAIRIES program (Decoction and Acupuncture combined with Immunomodulatory Rehabilitation Regimen) to mitigate neurological impairment and improve patient prognosis.
