Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Baihu Jiaguizhi Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription composed of Gypsum Fibrosum, Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge., Cinnamomum cassia Presl., Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch., and Oryza sativa L. It is historically used to treat rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and acute gouty arthritis (AGA), particularly in cases characterized by "damp-heat" syndromes according to TCM theory. Mechanistically, it exerts anti-inflammatory effects by regulating the succinate/SUCNR1/IL-1β metabolic signaling pathway—reducing succinate accumulation, downregulating SUCNR1 expression, increasing SDH activity, and thereby inhibiting inflammatory responses in synovial tissue. Clinical studies suggest it can alleviate joint swelling, pain, synovial hyperplasia, and inflammatory cell infiltration in RA and AGA models[1][2][3][4][5][7]. It may also modulate gut microbiota relevant to immune function[6].
