Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bailemian capsules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) patent formula primarily used for the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depression associated with liver-qi stagnation and yin deficiency patterns. The formulation is composed of several herbal extracts, including *Lilium brownii* (Lily), *Rehmannia glutinosa*, *Ziziphus jujuba* var. *spinosa* (Semen Ziziphi Spinosae), and *Poria cocos*. Bailemian is thought to exert sedative and hypnotic effects by modulating neurotransmitter systems in the central nervous system, specifically by enhancing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) signaling and regulating serotonin (5-HT) levels. It is frequently used in China both as a monotherapy and as an adjunctive treatment alongside Western sedative-hypnotics like eszopiclone to improve sleep quality and mitigate the side effects of conventional medications in patients with chronic insomnia or Parkinson's disease-related sleep disturbances.
