Overview
Bailing Shugan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Hangzhou Huadong Medicine Group Bioengineering Research Institute for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B and liver fibrosis. The drug is a derivative or combination product based on the established Bailing Capsule, which contains fermented *Cordyceps sinensis* powder (specifically the *Hirsutella sinensis* mycelium). The "Shugan" component of the name refers to TCM principles of "soothing the liver," typically achieved through the addition of herbal ingredients that complement the immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of the Cordyceps mycelium. Bailing Shugan aims to reduce liver inflammation and inhibit the progression of fibrosis by modulating the immune response and potentially targeting the TGF-beta/Smad signaling pathway to decrease extracellular matrix deposition and hepatic stellate cell activation.
