Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bailixiang herbal tea is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation derived from thyme (*Thymus vulgaris*). It is being developed by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Institute of Chinese Materia Medica for the treatment of the common cold. The therapeutic is specifically evaluated for its efficacy and safety in patients presenting with the TCM pattern of wind-cold attacking the exterior accompanied by spleen-stomach disharmony. Thyme is traditionally recognized for its antimicrobial, antitussive, and spasmolytic properties, which are primarily attributed to its essential oil constituents such as thymol and carvacrol.
