Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bairesi (also known as Baireisi Pill or Bairesi complex prescription) is a traditional Uyghur medicine (TUM) formulation developed for the treatment of vitiligo. It is a multi-herb preparation traditionally containing extracts of *Psoralea corylifolia*, *Plumbago zeylanica*, *Brassica juncea*, *Nigella glandulifera*, and *Vernonia anthelmintica*. Bairesi is designed to stimulate melanogenesis and promote melanin synthesis in melanocytes, potentially through the regulation of the MAPK14/β-catenin pathway and the reduction of hippuric acid accumulation. It is currently being developed by Humanwell Healthcare and the Xinjiang Uygur Medical Research Institute, and is in Phase II clinical trials in China for the treatment of stable vitiligo.
