Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bairui granules are a traditional Chinese medicine formulation derived from the plant Thesium chinense. The product is primarily used for clearing heat, reducing inflammation, relieving cough, and resolving phlegm. It is indicated for acute and chronic pharyngitis, bronchitis, rhinitis, cold and fever, pneumonia, tracheitis, herpangina, and other infectious respiratory diseases[1][2][3][7]. The mechanism of action is attributed to the presence of phenolic compounds and flavonoids in Thesium chinense that exhibit anti-inflammatory effects by reducing edema in animal models[5]. Clinical studies have shown that Bairui granules can enhance treatment efficacy for respiratory tract infections (RTIs), accelerate symptom resolution (such as cough and fever), reduce serological markers of infection or inflammation compared to Western medicine alone or in combination therapy[2][3]. No serious adverse effects have been reported in clinical use.
