Overview

Baiyu Decoction (BYD) is a traditional Chinese medicine clinical prescription developed by Professor Shen, primarily used for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) via enema administration. It has demonstrated significant efficacy in alleviating symptoms of UC by reducing intestinal inflammation, protecting the intestinal barrier, and inhibiting the TOLL-like receptor pathway. The decoction contains multiple active compounds such as quercetin and kaempferol which interact with key therapeutic targets including AKT1, IL-6, TP53, TNF, and IL-1β. Mechanistically, BYD modulates inflammatory pathways notably involving TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling to exert its anti-inflammatory effects. Animal studies combined with network pharmacology and molecular docking have validated these mechanisms[1][3][4].
