Overview
Baizhang Prostate Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic prostatitis, particularly cases characterized by damp-heat and blood stasis according to TCM diagnostic criteria. The drug's name is derived from its two principal herbal components: *Phellodendron amurense* (Huangbai) and *Polygonum cuspidatum* (Huzhang). These ingredients, along with others like *Taraxacum mongolicum* and *Plantago asiatica*, provide a multi-target pharmacological profile including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic effects. The capsule works by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-6, inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity, and improving microcirculation within the prostate gland. This helps to alleviate clinical symptoms such as pelvic pain, urinary frequency, urgency, and discomfort. It is an approved pharmaceutical product in China, widely used for both bacterial and non-bacterial chronic prostatitis.
