Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Balanil is a topical therapeutic product line developed by Epitech, available in formulations such as Balanil Gel and Balanil Lavaggio (wash). The primary active ingredient is **adelmidrol**, a synthetic analogue of the endogenous fatty acid amide palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). Adelmidrol belongs to the **ALIAmide** (Autacoid Local Inflammation Antagonism) class, which acts by modulating the activation and degranulation of **mast cells** and other non-neuronal immune cells. By stabilizing these cells, Balanil reduces the release of pro-inflammatory and pro-algesic mediators, thereby addressing localized neuro-inflammation and pain. It is primarily indicated for urological and dermatological conditions affecting the male genital area, including **balanitis**, **balanoposthitis**, and the management of symptoms associated with **prostatitis**, **benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)**, and **lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS)**.
