Overview

Balanil Gel is a topical medical device developed by Epitech Group SpA for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory conditions of the male genital area, such as balanitis and balanoposthitis. The formulation contains adelmidrol, a synthetic ALIAmide (Autacoid Local Inflammation Antagonism) compound that modulates the activity of mast cells and other non-neuronal immune cells to control neuroinflammation and itching. The gel is delivered in a hyaluronan-based bioadhesive matrix designed to bind to mucocutaneous tissue, providing a long-acting effect. Additional ingredients include Echinacea angustifolia extract, phytosphingosine, and biotin, which support skin barrier function and provide antimicrobial properties. Beyond its primary use in genital inflammation, the product is also listed in Epitech's pipeline for broader indications including prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
