Balanol Analog 2 is a synthetic small molecule and an experimental analog of the natural product balanol. It belongs to the class of benzophenones and is structurally related to ATP, with distinct regions mimicking adenine, ribose, and phosphate groups. Balanol Analog 2 acts as a potent inhibitor of protein kinases—specifically targeting serine/threonine kinases such as cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) more selectively than protein kinase C (PKC).
