BAMLET (bovine α-lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells) is a complex formed from bovine α-lactalbumin and oleic acid, developed as an anti-cancer agent. It belongs to the same family as HAMLET (human α-lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells). BAMLET has demonstrated the ability to selectively kill cancer cells and inhibit tumor growth, particularly in colon cancer. Mechanistically, BAMLET inhibits autophagy flux and induces apoptosis in RAS-mutated colorectal cancer cells by down-regulating protein kinase CK1α and attenuating the AKT/p-β-catenin signaling pathway. The drug is being developed primarily for clinical studies targeting colon cancer in the gastrointestinal tract and oral cancers[1][2][3].
