Overview
Bamosiran is an investigational oligonucleotide pharmaceutical classified as a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy. It is designed to lower intraocular pressure by selectively inhibiting the expression of β2-adrenergic receptors in ocular tissues via RNA interference. This mechanism reduces aqueous humour production, which is directly involved in the regulation of intraocular pressure. Bamosiran has been developed primarily for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension and has completed Phase 2 clinical trials demonstrating efficacy and good tolerability as a topical eye drop formulation[1][2][3][4][5][6].
