Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bamzireotide navoxetan (also known as [212Pb]VMT-α-NET) is an investigational, peptide-targeted alpha-particle radiopharmaceutical therapy developed by Perspective Therapeutics (originally originated by Viewpoint Molecular Targeting) for the treatment of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SSTR2)-expressing solid tumors, including neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and meningiomas. The drug consists of a somatostatin analog peptide (bamzireotide) conjugated to a lead-specific chelator (navoxetan) via a linker, which coordinates the alpha-emitting radioisotope lead-212 (212Pb). Upon intravenous administration, the peptide selectively binds to SSTR2 overexpressed on tumor cells, delivering highly localized, high-energy alpha radiation that induces double-stranded DNA breaks and tumor cell death while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2a clinical trials, with preparations underway for a registrational Phase 3 study.
