BAN1503 is a monoclonal antibody developed to target a specific truncated and pyroglutamate-modified form of amyloid-beta (pGlu3Aβ or pE3-Aβ), which is implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. This antibody acts as an amyloid beta-protein modulator by binding to these modified amyloid-beta species that are prone to aggregation and neurotoxicity. The drug was initially developed by BioArctic AB and has been licensed globally to Bristol Myers Squibb for further development and commercialization. The PyroGlutamate-amyloid-beta program includes both BAN1503 and the related antibody BAN2803; the latter incorporates BioArctic's BrainTransporter technology for enhanced brain delivery. As of early 2025, development remains at the preclinical stage with no reported clinical trials or approvals[1][2][3][4][5].
