Overview

BAN2238 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate being developed by BioArctic in collaboration with Eisai for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It utilizes BioArctic's proprietary BrainTransporter (BT) technology, which is designed to actively transport biologics across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) by targeting the transferrin receptor (TfR). BAN2238 specifically targets amyloid-beta (Aβ) protofibrils, similar to lecanemab, but is engineered with the BT platform to enhance brain penetration and potentially improve efficacy or allow for lower systemic dosing. The project is part of a broader portfolio of BrainTransporter-enabled assets aimed at neurodegenerative disorders.
