Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BAN2802 is a next-generation monoclonal antibody being developed by BioArctic and Eisai for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It targets amyloid-beta protofibrils, similar to lecanemab, but incorporates BioArctic's proprietary BrainTransporter™ technology. This technology is designed to facilitate the active transport of the antibody across the blood-brain barrier, potentially increasing brain penetration and improving therapeutic efficacy or allowing for lower systemic dosing. As of April 2024, the drug is under a research evaluation agreement between BioArctic and Eisai, with Eisai holding an option to license the asset.
