BAN2803 is a monoclonal antibody developed to target pyroglutamate-modified amyloid-beta (PyroGlu-Aβ), a truncated and highly aggregation-prone form of amyloid-beta implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The drug incorporates BioArctic's proprietary BrainTransporter technology, which is designed to enhance delivery across the blood-brain barrier via transferrin receptor-mediated transport, potentially improving brain uptake, efficacy, and safety profile. Initially developed by BioArctic AB, global development and commercialization rights for BAN2803 have been licensed to Bristol Myers Squibb, with BioArctic retaining co-commercialization rights in the Nordic region. As of April 2024, BAN2803 is in preclinical development for Alzheimer's disease[1][2][4][7].
