Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BAN3014 is a monoclonal antibody drug candidate being developed by BioArctic AB in collaboration with Eisai. It is designed to target toxic aggregated forms of the TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43), specifically oligomers and protofibrils, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). By selectively binding to these misfolded protein species, BAN3014 aims to reduce their neurotoxic effects and slow disease progression. The drug is currently in the preclinical/IND-enabling stage, following the nomination of a drug candidate for clinical development.
