Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bangavax (also known as BANCOVID) is an mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by Globe Biotech Limited, a Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company. The vaccine utilizes a proprietary nanotechnology-based platform to deliver mRNA that encodes the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, thereby eliciting a protective immune response. It is designed as a single-dose vaccine and has demonstrated efficacy against multiple variants of the virus in preclinical studies. Bangavax is notable for being the first pharmaceutical product from Bangladesh to receive a US patent for its delivery technology, covering its nanotechnology platform. The vaccine was included in the World Health Organization's list of COVID-19 vaccine candidates in 2020 and has undergone preclinical testing in non-human primates before entering Phase 1 clinical trials.
